FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. It is the only club that focuses on the family and we do a lot of work benefitting the community. I am the President of the club through Blue Valley High School. I am in charge of all of the events and keeping in contact with all of the members. Below are listed some of the events that we planned...
-
Conferences: Every year for conferences, FCCLA sets up a daycare for the teachers kids so that they can be dropped off and then picked back up when they are done with conferences. We set up games and crafts to keep children of all ages engages and entertained.
-
Winter Party: In order to raise money for Ronald McDonald House in downtown KC, FCCLA hosted a winter party open for all children in Stanley Elementary, Sunrise Point Elementary, and Blue River Elementary. For $10, kids got to come spend 3 hours at Blue Valley and play games with all of our volunteers. We did a lot of holiday activities, including cookie decorating, making snow globes, and playing snowman baseball.
-
Ronald McDonald House: The FCCLA sponsor and some volunteers went down to Ronald McDonald and made dinner for all the guests staying in the house. We plan to continue this tradtion again once a semester for this upcoming school year.
-
Book Drive: All FCCLA members worked together to create "book boxes" that we brought over to Stanley Elementary and placed around the school. The vice president and I went on the morning announcements to advertise the drive. Our goal was to collect over 200 books to donate to the Johnson County Christmas Bureau to support families in the metro that can't buy presents for their children.
